Abhimanyu – Bhurishravas

On the thirteenth day of the Kurukshetra War, the Kauravas executed the formidable Chakravyuha formation, a deadly spiral designed by Dronacharya to trap and annihilate enemy forces. When most Pandava warriors were unable to breach it, the young and valiant Abhimanyu, son of Arjuna and Subhadra, boldly entered the formation, determined to uphold the Pandava cause. Once inside, he faced a series of seasoned Kaurava warriors who attacked him from all sides. Among them was Bhurishravas, the son of Somadatta, known for his strength, honor, and mastery of combat. In the fierce melee, Bhurishravas engaged Abhimanyu directly, striking him with sharp arrows and wounding him severely. Despite his youth, Abhimanyu countered with remarkable valor, managing to wound Bhurishravas in return and resist multiple assailants simultaneously. However, the continuous onslaught by Bhurishravas, along with warriors like Karna, Dronacharya, and Kripacharya, gradually exhausted Abhimanyu. Bhurishravas’s blows contributed to weakening the young warrior’s defense, paving the way for the eventual tragic encirclement and death of Abhimanyu. This encounter epitomized the bravery of Abhimanyu and the relentless discipline of Bhurishravas, both bound by duty yet caught in the merciless tide of dharma and destiny.
