Barbarika

Barbarika, grandson of Bhima through Ghatotkacha, was a warrior of unmatched power, armed with three infallible arrows given by Shiva. Known as Khatushyamji in later tradition, he had vowed to fight for the weaker side in battle, ensuring balance. Fearing that his neutrality would prolong the war endlessly, Krishna tested him and ultimately asked for his head in sacrifice before the war began. Willingly, Barbarika gave up his head, which Krishna placed atop a hill to witness the entire war. His sacrifice is remembered as an act of supreme devotion and surrender to Krishna’s will. Barbarika embodies the paradox of strength bound by destiny and the spirit of ultimate selflessness.
