Chitrasena, a Gandharva king, appears in the Mahābhārata during the exile of the Pandavas. When Duryodhana attempted to display his wealth and humiliate the exiled brothers, Chitrasena defeated and captured him. Out of respect, Arjuna intervened, freed Duryodhana, and restored him despite his enmity. This incident highlighted the Pandavas’ nobility and Duryodhana’s humiliation. Chitrasena’s role, though brief, emphasizes cosmic justice—where arrogance is checked by divine beings—and the Pandavas’ restraint in upholding dharma even toward their foes.
