Jayadratha

Jayadratha, king of Sindhu and brother-in-law of Duryodhana, is infamous for his role in Abhimanyu’s tragic death. Earlier, he had attempted to abduct Draupadi but was humiliated by the Pandavas and spared. During the Kurukshetra War, with a boon from Shiva granting him power to hold back the Pandavas for a day, Jayadratha blocked their entry into the Chakravyuha formation. This enabled the Kauravas to trap and brutally slay Abhimanyu. Arjuna vowed to kill him before sunset the next day or self-immolate. With Krishna’s guidance, Arjuna fulfilled his oath, beheading Jayadratha at the precise moment, bringing him infamy as both destroyer and victim of destiny.
